Breakout: Firearms in the Church
In the ’80s background checks for children’s workers became a primary church security topic. In the ’90s internal control measures for finances became a focus, followed by medical response teams. A security issue today is whether people should be carrying firearms in the church. What requirements should be considered? Qualifications? What about state laws? What training is necessary? Pastor Dan Powell of Calvary Open Bible in Dayton, Ohio, and his leadership team have carefully researched, developed, and implemented a Protective Services Team policy. Whether or not your church has a firearms policy, you will find this session enlightening.
